Love Nest Highly overdue Update

Friday, December 3rd, 2010

Wow, it’s been quite a while since we’ve put up pictures of our renovations. We have come a long way, and we feel like our place is quite liveable at the moment. The neighbourhood is amazing with a great community feeling.

The following are some more pictures of the latest developments

The Love Nest

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

So once again it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on this blog. Well it’s been busy. And it’s about to get busier.We bought a house!! Thank you Jesus! And now we are about to renovate this house!

So we thought we would document this process in the form of this blog. And why not share it with the rest of the world?! So Join us on our journey of transforming a derelict old building in a suburb in Cape Town (name not mentioned for privacy’s sake) into a delightful love nest. We will post everything under the “love nest” category.

Here’s a little picture to get a feel for the area we’ll be living in. Loving it!

The way we role

The way we role

So last night we got the keys to the place. We moved some matresses in and spent the night there. Interesting to say the least…. It’s amazing how much of the outside world you hear when you don’t have any furniture in the house. Hence, not much sleep on our part….

Life stories

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

The other night at our fireside chat (although the fire part of it is not so active at the moment as the weather’s cooking) we had some friends of ours over.

When it came to sharing our prayer requests, I asked one of the ladies to quickly tell our friends what had been happening in her life in the last week (she gave her life to Jesus!! woohoo!). I think she didn’t quite hear the “quickly” part though. She talked for about 30 minutes, telling us parts of her life story. How awesome it was! It was so cool to hear what God has done in her life, and how His love was so evident. She kept on saying how “God couldn’t stop loving her”. Isn’t that so true?! No matter what we have done/ keep on doing, God can’t stop loving us! One of the amazing, yet difficult parts of working with refugees is how each one of them has intense life stories. But that’s not the point I wanted to make.

All I wanted to say is that it’s so amazing to listen to people’s life stories. When is the last time you took time out to listen to someone’s story – believe me, they are dying to share it with you. When is the last time you took the time to tell your life story – believe me, you have an interesting life story to tell.

I think I’m going to have a story telling night some time. Anyone keen?

This is awesome! What Love is by Jaeson Ma.

oh the deep deep love of Jesus

Beautiful Song!!!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus, vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!
Rolling as a mighty ocean in its fullness over me!
Underneath me, all around me, is the current of Thy love
Leading onward, leading homeward to Thy glorious rest above!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus, spread His praise from shore to shore!
How He loveth, ever loveth, changeth never, nevermore!
How He watches o’er His loved ones, died to call them all His own;
How for them He intercedeth, watcheth o’er them from the throne!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus, love of every love the best!
’Tis an ocean full of blessing, ’tis a haven giving rest!
O the deep, deep love of Jesus, ’tis a heaven of heavens to me;
And it lifts me up to glory, for it lifts me up to Thee!

What’s LOVE got to do with it?!

Friday, September 11th, 2009

My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God.

The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because GOD IS LOVE–so you can’t know him if you don’t love.

This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him.

No one has seen God, ever. But if we love one another, God dwells deeply within us, and his love becomes complete in us–perfect love!

We, though, are going to lovelove and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. HE LOVE US FIRST.

If anyone boasts, “I love God,” and goes right on hating his brother or sister, thinking nothing of it, he is a liar. If he won’t love the person he can see, how can he love the God he can’t see?

The command we have from Christ is blunt: Loving God includes loving people. You’ve got to love both.

If you thought these words above were quite inspiring, don’t credit me. These are some excerpts taken from a letter written by a close friend of Jesus, John. Go look for yourselves, dust off that bible and go to John 4:7-21 .

I’ve just become so aware of how powerful love really is! It’s love that draws people into the kingdom. But we’ve also been so aware of how broken this world is, and how desperately it needs God’s love. And how is that expressed?? Through US of course!! And we’re not talking about the mushy kind of love here. It’s a relentless, going out of one’s way, good samaritan, compassionate, kingdom shaping, heart breaking, heart changing, earth shaking love that goes beyond mere feelings.

Man, we’ve got so much to learn!

let it be multiplied….

the cool domain name

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

So I was talking to my friend Hagen the other day. I told him about our new blog. He had seen the link on facebook, and was amazed at the cool domain name www.lovemultiplied.com. He was like, wow, how did you manage to get that address? Normally if you add any two english words together, the .com address is likely to be taken already. Well, in our case that wasn’t so. We were lucky enough to get the exact address we wanted! Cool stuff, hey?! God is good!

Precious Stones

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

The first few seconds is hard to listen to… but man there are AMAZING stories in here…

“For Christians it is not difficult to forgive… its very hard not to forgive.”

After being beaten:
“I cannot pray like Jesus prayer father forgive them, for they do not know what they do. Jesus didnt sin, I must pray Father forgive me and them for we do not know what they do” (my paraphrase)

“Too much suffering makes a heart of stone… but it can make a precious stone”
